Megastore Tidy Up Together Best Skills to Buy First

A first-hour order for Long Reach, Stack Capacity, and the numbered HUD tools.

Best Skills

The best skills in Megastore: Tidy Up Together are the ones that cut walking, climbing, and last-item hunts. This page is the practical spend order for the Steam launch build (2 September 2026) after hotfix 1.0.1. It sits under the skill tier list hub and pairs with solo vs co-op skills when you add a partner.

If you are still learning signs and grouping, park this list and finish the beginner guide plus the Toy Store walkthrough first. Skills are optional. You can restore every store with an empty tree, and 33 achievements include finishing a store without using skills.

First three points after the hotfix

Buy Long Reach (+1 m) first. One extra metre of grab and place range saves more time than any floor tool while you are still learning bay heights. At launch, taking Long Reach as the first perk could reduce reach instead of increasing it. Hotfix 1.0.1 fixed that. If an old save still feels short-armed, check your current reach on a low shelf before you spend more points.

Buy Stack Capacity +3 second once you start carrying matching groups. The node is meant to add three products to a hold. A launch bug granted +6; the hotfix restored +3. If you unlocked capacity before 3 September 2026, verify the live number on the HUD rather than assuming you still have the bugged stack.

The third point is a HUD tool, not another unnamed passive. Pick based on the bottleneck you just felt:

  • Floor is a carpet of mixed toys or groceries: magnet-style pull.
  • You cannot see which bay is the match: flashlight.
  • You keep dropping bulky items on stairs: crate.

Steam achievements now name the actives: Magnet, Product Highlight, Shelf Highlight, Pairing Up, and Movement Speed. Long Reach and Stack Capacity +3 remain the two named passives. See the achievements list for which first-use badges fire.

Numbered HUD abilities

The HUD shows numbered slots. Launch screenshots cycle through a magnet-style pull, a compact tool, a flashlight, a roller, a megaphone, and a crate. They are tools, not a second skill tree.

  • Magnet-style pull gathers nearby matches so you stop crouching for every dinosaur. Strong on Toy Store floors and Megastore escalator piles.
  • Flashlight helps you read a bay in clutter and pairs with the green highlight that already marks the correct shelf. Strong when you are hunting one missing SKU.
  • Roller is an aisle sweeper. Strong in Supermarket runs where products sit in long lines rather than toy piles.
  • Crate is extra portable storage for awkward shapes. Strong on the Megastore’s second story when you do not want to ride the escalator empty.
  • Megaphone is a co-op callout tool. Solo players can skip it; hosts should read co-op roles before both people bind it.
  • Compact tool shrinks how a stack sits in view so large hold poses do not block the next product. Hotfix 1.0.1 also adjusted several large-product hold poses, which reduces how often you need this slot.

Green highlights and auto-sort in hand are always on. They are not purchases. A lava lamp stack that reads 1/28 in the HUD is the game grouping matches while you walk. Use that counter to decide whether you need more capacity or just a cleaner route.

Toy Store spend (3,555 items, 297 shelves)

Toy Store is the teaching map. Signs such as Toy Figures, Plushies, Pretend Play, and Retro Toys do most of the navigation. One Long Reach point is enough for many first clears. Save Stack Capacity until you are carrying full figure rows. Skip megaphone. If you are going for the no-skills achievement, buy nothing and use the controls guide so left trigger cannot fire an ability by accident.

Puzzle Foam V was moved from the top shelf of the corner plushie section to the floor for new saves in hotfix 1.0.1. Old saves can still hide that piece high. That is a search problem, not a skill problem. The Toy Store guide is the right page for foam letters.

Supermarket spend (7,934 items, 487 shelves)

Supermarket is where Stack Capacity earns its point. Fresh food and long grocery runs punish a tiny hand stack. Take Long Reach if you skipped it, then capacity, then either flashlight or roller. A missing Supermarket area was added to Unstuck Product settings in the hotfix; if a product is under collision, use Unstuck before you spend a point hoping a magnet will find it.

The Supermarket walkthrough plus the faster sorting page matter more than a fourth tree node here.

Megastore spend (13,380 items, 978 shelves, two stories)

Megastore is a vertical logistics problem. Escalators clog, nine departments compete for attention, and a solo player will walk the same atrium twice unless the tree removes trips. Priority:

  1. Long Reach so upstairs bays are not a jump puzzle.
  2. Stack Capacity so a department run actually fills the crate in your hands.
  3. Magnet-style pull for the atrium and escalator dumps.
  4. Flashlight for the last SKU in a department you already swept.
  5. Crate if you are the upstairs runner.

Online co-op is strongly recommended but not required. If you bring a partner, do not both buy this same list. Split fetch and shelf as described on solo vs co-op skills. The Megastore guide is the map; this page is only the tree.

Playing without skills

You can ignore the tree on purpose. Hotfix 1.0.1 fixed the achievement that tracks finishing a store without using skills. Rebind controller left trigger before you try it. Keyboard and mouse remain the cleanest pair for a no-tool run. Pause with ESC works for a solo session after the hotfix, which makes careful last-item hunts less painful.

Player-reported arcade tokens

Some players report hidden tokens that feed arcade-machine buffs. This wiki does not treat those tokens as a named perk or a guaranteed drop. If you find one, note the store and whether the buff survived a crash. Autosave complaints are still common; see solo play for save habits. There are no promo codes that unlock skills; the codes page explains Steam keys only.

Buy Long Reach, confirm it actually lengthened your arms, then spend the next point on whatever made you walk an aisle twice. That loop is the whole tier list once the Toy Store lights are green.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is Long Reach still safe as the first perk?

Yes, on hotfix 1.0.1 and later. The launch bug that could reduce reach when Long Reach was the first purchase is patched. Confirm reach on a low shelf if you unlocked it on day one.

Why did Stack Capacity feel twice as strong at launch?

The +3 node incorrectly granted +6. Hotfix 1.0.1 restored the intended +3. Check your live stack size before you plan Megastore routes around the bugged number.

Which HUD tool is best for the Megastore?

Magnet-style pull for escalator piles, flashlight for the last SKU in a department, crate if you own the upstairs floor. Megaphone is for partners, not solo.

Can I finish stores without buying skills?

Yes. Play with or without the tree. One achievement tracks a no-skills clear; hotfix 1.0.1 fixed that tracking. Rebind left trigger first.

Do arcade tokens belong on the skill list?

No. Hidden tokens that feed arcade-machine buffs are player reports, not official named perks. Do not plan a first-hour build around them.

Where should co-op partners spend points instead?

Do not buy two copies of the same first two nodes. Split fetch and shelf using solo vs co-op skills and the co-op roles sheet.
