Co-op Guide

Megastore: Tidy Up Together is online co-op plus solo, not a local-split-screen-only release. Yolo Games Studio shipped it on Steam for Windows on 2 September 2026. Every launch store can be finished alone. Co-op is optional in the Toy Store and useful in the Supermarket. It is the recommended way to clear the two-story Megastore: 13,380 items, nine departments, 978 shelves.

Invite through Steam. There is no couch split of one PC. If two people are in the same room, they still need two copies or Family Sharing and two machines. The codes page explains keys and sharing; there are no promo codes that unlock extra lobby slots.

Who hosts, who wanders

One player hosts. Everyone else joins. Remaining HUD counts (shelves and items) are shared work, not personal score. Steam lists 13,380 Megastore items; the HUD tracks remaining and can read 47/978 with a 13,357-style item count in screenshots. Call the HUD remaining, not a second official total.

Agree binds before the first Take. Throw is R on the HUD, Switch Product cycles the auto-sorted stack, and numbered abilities fire magnet-style pull, compact/stack, flashlight, paint roller, megaphone, or crate depending on the bar. Controls matter more in co-op because one person’s LT grab overlap will dump a partner’s green pile. Keyboard and mouse stay the reliable pair.

Decide skills on or off as a group. A mixed lobby where one player is hunting the no-skill achievement and another is firing Long Reach will void the tracker for the person who cared. Hotfix 1.0.1 (3 September 2026) fixed “finish a store without using skills” tracking; it did not add a per-player skill sandbox inside the same save. Read best skills and solo versus co-op if you are specialising.

Split the map, not the same SKU

Two people grabbing the same Army Toy Helicopter family is slower than one cleaner. Use department signs as job titles.

Toy Store (3,555 / 297, one story): one player owns Plushies plus the corner foam hunt, the other owns Toy Figures, Pretend Play, and summer ride-ons. Checkouts 01–03 are a late shared sweep.

Supermarket (7,934 / 487): split left aisles versus right, or dry goods versus fresh. Do not both live at the numbered lanes.

Megastore (two stories, nine departments): the atrium escalators are a dump, not a department. Typical split that actually works:

  • Player A: ground bakery / breads / rolls, fish counters, books.
  • Player B: upper clothing, music, summer, toy overflow.
  • Whoever finishes first: paper goods, rice/pasta/canned signs, then checkouts 01–04.

That is a staffing sketch, not an official nine-name list. Walk the signed walls once as a group, then lock territories. The co-op roles page is the longer roster version. Solo play is what you do when the lobby never shows.

Throw into a partner’s bay only if they asked. A basketball in a hoop and a letter-V foam board are last-item hides; call them in chat instead of magnet-pulling a finished facing.

Stacks, reach, and who carries

Carry cap starts at 10 in the Toy Store and is seen at 20 after upgrades. Hotfix 1.0.1 set +3 Stack Capacity after a bug granted +6. Long Reach is +1 m. In co-op, put the larger stack on the runner who fetches from the atrium, and put Long Reach on the player who shelves high bays. Do not both take identical trees if you can specialise. Observed HUD tools (magnet, compact, flashlight, roller, megaphone, crate) are extra; this wiki does not invent more official node names.

Player reports say hidden tokens can feed arcade machines for extra buffs. If you chase those, assign one scavenger so the rest of the lobby is not wandering for tokens while 13k remaining items sit on the floor.

Timer, pause, and saves

There is no fail state. Completion time is shown at the end, so a chaotic lobby still “wins” if the shelves fill. After 1.0.1, ESC pauses the timer when you are the only player. In a filled lobby, treat ESC as a menu, not a freeze for friends.

Autosave and crash progress loss are a real pain point. Players also want separate solo versus co-op saves. Until Yolo ships that, do not mix a careful no-skill solo file with a four-person magnet party. Screenshot remaining counts before anyone leaves. Unstuck Product is in settings if a large SKU clips after the hold-pose fix.

Looping music gets louder when nobody talks. Use Discord from the links page for callouts; the in-game world does not replace voice. Confirm who is allowed to host after a crash so you do not load an older remaining count over a better one.

Session plan that does not collapse

  1. Host on a store you have already scouted solo, or at least read Getting Started.
  2. Rebind, FOV, skills-on/off, difficulty — same answers for everyone.
  3. Walk signs for two minutes. Assign walls.
  4. Work remaining HUD down in chunks (for example, clear one department until its signs look empty, then meet at the atrium).
  5. Last 50 items: no magnet spray. Search hoops, foam letters, yoyos. Use the store checklist and sorting faster so the lobby does not spiral.

Hosts should screenshot remaining counts before anyone leaves; the 3 September hotfix paused the clock for solo ESC, but it did not magically split solo and co-op saves.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is co-op local split-screen?

No. It is online co-op plus solo on Steam Windows. Two people on one PC is not the 1.0 design. See solo versus co-op.

Do we have to play the Megastore together?

No. Solo can finish all three stores. Co-op is recommended for 978 shelves and two stories. The Megastore walkthrough assumes you can split floors.

Can one player use skills and another go no-skill?

Not if someone needs the no-skill achievement on that store. 1.0.1 fixed tracking, but a magnet pull in the lobby still counts as using skills. Decide before you host.

Does ESC pause for the whole lobby?

After hotfix 1.0.1, ESC pauses the timer when you are the only player. In a populated session, do not treat it as a group freeze.

How should we split the Toy Store?

One player on Plushies and the foam-V floor hunt, one on figures and summer. Details in the Toy Store walkthrough and co-op roles.

Where do we coordinate voice?

Use the community Discord listed on links. There are no promo codes that add extra chat features.
